    Australian Welder Certification VS Qualification

    About Australian Welder Certification Register

Kangaroo Training Institute Pty Ltd is Weld Australia ( https://wtia.com.au/ ) approved Welder tasting centre. Our all trainer & examiners are approved by WTIA. The Australian Welder Certification Register (AWCR) is an initiative of the Weld Australia (WTIA).

    SCOPE

This Standard specifies the requirements necessary for the granting of certificates to experienced and competent welders engaged in the operation of various welding processes used in the manufacture of pressure equipment such as boilers, pressure vessels and associated piping as defined in AS1210, as well as other applications requiring a prescribed standard in the theory and practice of welding. Certification in welding is related primarily to basic welding techniques and processes and not to the parent metal of the joint.

Welder certification should not be confused with welder qualification. The requirements for welder qualification are specified in the appropriate application Standards.

    Welder qualification

Demonstration of a welder’s ability to weld in accordance with a qualified or pre-qualified welding procedure, a specific joint on a test piece which simulates the joint and the successful testing of that weld to the requirements specified in an application Standard.

    Welder certification

The certificate awarded to a welder as evidence of having passed the theory examination and practical tests specified in this Standard, and which indicates a sound knowledge of the theory of safe welding and a demonstrated ability to make

    Welder testing – Performance Qualification

Welder testing or commonly referred as Welder Qualification in Australia or Performance Qualification (as per ASME IX, AWS, API, ISO, AS Standards) involves welding a test coupon in accordance with a qualified welding procedure (WPS); under the supervision of a Welding Supervisor or witnessed by a Welding Inspector or an Engineer. It is also a common practice to simultaneously accomplish Welder testing (Performance Qualification) while developing a Welding Procedure and while qualifying a WPS or a Production weld.

KANGAROO TRAINING INSTITUTE PTY LTD staff can assist you in supervising or witnessing your welders to weld a test coupon at your premises, on-site or KANGAROO TRAINING INSTITUTE PTY LTD Training Institutes. Welding booths are available with equipped welding machines, welding electrodes, consumables, gas and all essential tools to complete a weld test coupon.
